Suburb Safe, (02) 4966 2783 Newcastle 2322

The birth of privatised community policing in Australia. Coming to your town in 2014.

Who are we?

Suburb Safe are an innovative highly visible and physical privatised policing presence employed solely for the protection of your community, your family and your property. Suburb Safe has evolved as a result of intensive research and investigation into various Security and Policing practices in Australasia, America, South Africa and the United Kingdom. We engage best practice derived from private policing entities and studies worldwide, and actively pursue a whole of Community approach to Community Security and Home Protection. Suburb Safe and its employees are paid members from your local Community only. By employing local people as Community Support Officers we connect with local knowledge, and are able to invoke a ‘live’ intelligence reporting system. Additionally, by employing members of your Community we re-instil a sense of community and ownership targeting localised issues and reducing crime and the fear of crime.

Not to mention the fact that we are creating valuable local jobs for local people.

What does Suburb Safe offer the Community?

Home Protection

Community Support Officers are deployed firstly to pro-actively target and reduce property offences (e.g. motor vehicle theft, break and enter offences and malicious damage). Community Support Officers proactively patrol and physically inspect participant homes offering a personal and tailored patrol with regular physical security inspections of your home. To ensure accountability your house will be fitted with a patrol and security log-on point. (This point is non obtrusive, tamper proof and requires no power or charging station). The Community Support Officer performs a random physical inspection of the home, and utilising our innovative Officer Tour Management System, the times, dates and frequency of the inspections are recorded and stored on our patrol database and collated for use in our in house reporting system.

Each participating household is provided with a report via email or hard copy detailing gathered intelligence, patrol frequency, times and dates of personalised patrols at the completion of each patrol month for your interest and peace of mind.

At times of emergencies or when participants feel in fear at their home, participants are urged to contact Community Support Officers at any time 24hrs a day, and are provided with the contact details of the patrol vehicle to respond at no additional charge. Suburb Safe encourage continual engagement with members of the community increasing and developing our relationships, and ability to gather vital information for the purpose of intelligence.

Suburb Protection

Community Support Officers provide a physical, highly visible presence in your Suburb and actively engage the community recording and reporting on intelligence and information regarding local issues affecting your Community. By utilising and promoting a 'live' intelligence reporting system Suburb Safe, Neighbour watch and Policing bodies all benefit in reducing crime, and information sharing on offenders and trouble spots. Community Support Officers gather valuable intelligence by continual interaction with you; the Community, re-birthing a pro-active approach to policing and security processes. Community Support Officers are a continual presence in your Suburb and are tasked to your Suburb only, thereby reducing response times to incidents and emergencies significantly.

Our Officers are fitted with body worn cameras, and patrol vehicles are fitted with 24hr optical surveillance equipment and are employed solely to record interactions for the purpose of evidence and intelligence gathering, and for assisting in the prosecution of offenders for government policing bodies. Our evidence handling and processes are in strict adherence to the NSW Surveillance Devices Act, and any footage of offences obtained are managed according to the Act.

Why engage Suburb Safe?

Our government police services are already stretched in terms of resources and Suburb Safe may well be in a better position, as it is community funded, to complement police services in jointly fulfilling community and policing expectations. Government policing agencies are becoming increasingly centralised and each command is heavily affected by budgetary restraints. Due to the pressures placed on our government policing resources, pro-active patrols are limited and response times are ever increasing with government police placed under constant demand effectively leading them into a reactionary force only.

Suburb Safe reduces response times significantly and pro-active patrols and intelligence gathering are the focus rather than a secondary tasking. Additionally, Suburb Safe allows participants access to a personalised protective service tailored to your own personal and elected requirements targeting localised issues that are important to you and your community.

Our Team

The innovators behind Suburb Safe are experienced former Police, Corrective Service and Security Personnel with extensive experience in maintaining secure environments for high profile, state, national and international agencies. We have extensive experience in incident and emergency response developed over our time in the industry. We have conducted exhaustive research into the private policing phenomenon over a number of years through various academic authorities specifically basing our formal education on both Private Policing and Strategic Policing issues.

Operationally we are highly tuned in the ability to record information, and in providing intelligence to Policing agencies throughout Australia in both a State and Federal capacity, and are aware of the strict limitations of authorities and powers of both government and private policing bodies.
